A single-bit sampling demodulator for biomedical implants
نویسندگان
چکیده
A phase-shift keying (PSK) demodulator is demonstrated for the target application of low power and high data rate inductive links. The demodulator based on the single-bit sampling demodulation scheme is capable of operating in binary, quadrature, 8-, and 16-PSK mode. The prototype chip realized in 0.18mm CMOS process can demodulate up to 1.25 MSymbol/s at 5-MHz carrier frequency. It occupies 240 310 mm and consumes 140 mA from 1.2 V. & 2015 Elsevier Ltd. A novel data transfer technique for bio-implantable devices through the inductive power transfer link
A novel technique for transferring data to biomedical implantable devices through the inductive power transfer link is presented. The new modulation technique presented in this paper is based on changing the duty cycle of the switching pulse of the class E power amplifier which drives the external coil. Hence, we call it duty cycle shift keying (DCSK). Inductive link efficiency and voltage gain...
متن کاملA Power and Data Telemetry System for Biomedical Implants
This paper describes the design of a power and data telemetry system intended for biomedical implants. The power generation unit utilizes a voltage quadruple, a novel voltage limiter, a new low-power supply-independent voltage reference and a linear voltage regulator. The ASK demodulator uses a high performance comparator based scheme which can recover modulation indices range from 5% up to 90%...
متن کاملAn energy-efficient reconfigurable analog-to-digital converter for orthopedic implants
This paper presents a pipelined analog to digital converter (ADC) with reconfigurable resolution and sampling rate for biomedical applications. Significant power saving is achieved by turning off the sample-andhold stage and the first two pipeline stages of the ADC instead of turning off the last two stages. The reconfiguration scheme allows having three modes of operation with variable resolut...
متن کامل3-Gb/s 60-GHz Link With SiGe BiCMOS Receiver Front-End and CMOS Mixed-Mode QPSK Demodulator
We demonstrate 3-Gb/s wireless link using a 60-GHz receiver front-end fabricated in 0.25-μm SiGe:C bipolar complementary metal oxide semiconductor (BiCMOS) and a mixed-mode quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) demodulator fabricated in 60-nm CMOS. The 60-GHz receiver consists of a low-noise amplifier and a downconversion mixer. It has the peak conversion gain of 16 dB at 62 GHz and the 3-dB int...
متن کاملA novel single-bit input all digital synchronizer and demodulator baseband processor for fast frequency hopping system
A new synchronization circuit with only one-bit input for fast frequency hopping systems, which is being implemented, is proposed in this paper. To companion with the one-bit input synchronizer, a one-bit input demodulator was also designed to test the viability of using single-bit input as a complete baseband processor for fast frequency hopping systems. Not only is the baseband chip low cost,...
